🔥ACL HEALING WITHOUT SURGERY🔥 PHUNTSHO'S STORY
8 months ago Phuntsho completely ruptured his ACL playing soccer.
He was keen to avoid surgery and decided to undergo a bracing protocol which involved partial limitation of his range of motion while allowing him to weightbear and continue gym rehabilitation.
Phuntsho has been diligent with his rehabilitation exercise and has been attending weekly group rehabilitation sessions at Bounce Physiotherapy.
At 3 months, MRI confirmed his ACL was reattached and healing.
Phuntsho was happy with the stability in his knee and decided to continue with rehabilitation.
Following 8 months of rehab he obtained another MRI which showed progression in healing of his ACL to a near normal thickness.
His knee is clinically and functionally stable and he feels confident in his knee and performance.
We are continuing with intense gym rehab and will followup with further performance assessment and return to sport testing before he returns to soccer.

Zoe's Story 🔥🔥🔥
Complete ACL tear to running 3 PB sprints in her first competition back on the track
Zoe suffered a complete ACL tear, grade 2 MCL tear, and grade 1 LCL tear along with a broken elbow in September 2023 when she twisted he knee and fell over playing netball.
Zoe was told she would need an ACLR to be able to recover and return to sprinting and netball.
Zoe presented to me 1 week post injury on crutches and wanted to know if there were other options apart from surgery.
Following discussion of her goals and detailed assessment of her knee we decided upon a weight-bearing bracing protocol with partial ROM restriction, delaying the option of surgery, and seeing if her knee could heal and stabilise.
Zoe commenced a progressive rehab program and diligently exercised and took care of her knee.
We obtained a followup MRI at 3 months post injury which confirmed her ACL had reattached and had begun to heal.
Over the next 12 months Zoe continued to work extremely hard in the gym, returned to running and then progressed through her off-season sprint training. Zoe showed up every week to group rehab, and trained extensively to regain strength, power, and proprioception.
Zoe finally returned to competitive sprinting in October 2024 and amazingly set 3 PBs.
She beat her 200m PB by 1.25s
beat her 100m PB by 0.8s
and her 60m PB by 0.5s

Early management and intervention is critical to promoting natural healing of the ACL
There are 3 key things that need to begin as soon as possible post injury to give the best opportunity for the ACL to heal
💥 PROTECT the knee, avoid pivoting, running and jumping, avoid activities where unexpected instability could occur.
Consider an ACL healing bracing protocol
💥SETTLE the knee, allow the knee to settle on it's own, give it time and appropriate rest for the inflammatory process to take place and run it's course before loading the knee too much
